Stop Moving, Look Closer
Is it true that folks don’t like abstraction?
Distilled meaning in symbols and shapes
Outlines and maps of thought and feeling
Fill in the cavities with your own experience.
I drew and organ on a signpost
A cloud of cotton candy
The leaves’ color changed and revealed a skeleton
Fueling a fire throughout the night.
Umbrella wings are telephone lines
Nuclear blossoms and foliar tributaries
Ninety-nine octopus eyes
Or red-hot chicken pox.
Seeing what you do not see
No two eyes are the same
Clearer when open, I keep them moving
On this world which will never stand still.
